Our Mission
Mercyhurst College Office of Career Services Cooperative Education/Internship Program’s purpose is to develop, review, and disseminate regularly specific goals for student services/development, which must be consistent with the nature and goals of the college.
Career planning is a developmental process and must be fostered during the entire period of a student’s involvement with the college.
The primary purpose of career planning and placement must be to aid students in developing, evaluating, and effectively initiating and implementing career plans.
Career planning and placement services should help students to; engage in self-assessment; obtain occupational information; explore the full range of employment opportunities and/or graduate study; present themselves effectively as candidates; and obtain job placement in employment for further professional preparation.
The Office of Career Services Cooperative Education and Internship Programs should also promote a greater awareness within the entire institutional community of the world of work and the need for and nature of career development over the life span.
In addition, the staff should give special attention to specific populations such as experienced learners returning to the labor market and those engaging in career changes.
