- FAQ's
How do I request a transcript?
Your student records are confidential. A transcript is issued
only upon your written authorization. You may either fax or
mail your request. Include your social security number or Mercyhurst ID, dates
of attendance, name and address of the recipient, and your
signature in your request. There is no charge for a student
copy of your transcript. For an official copy, which includes
the signature of the registrar and the raised seal of the
college, the charge is $4 per transcript issued. You may pay
by check (payable to Mercyhurst College). A transcript request
form is attached to this Web page and can be downloaded for
your use. Please allow two to three business days for processing
your request.
How do I change my academic program (major,
concentration, or minor)?
The form for making these revisions is available in the Office
of the Registrar. You need to obtain the signature of your
advisor.
Why doesn't my transcript show lab credits?
Laboratory classes receive zero (0) credit and
are treated as follows:
Grades
earned in these courses are calculated in the GPA. Students
complete the course requirements. They are not charged tuition
for the lab or for FY 100. Therefore, zero (0) credit is posted
on the transcript.
If
students need up to two more credits to meet graduation requirements,
they may purchase any two zero (0) credit courses that they
have completed and which are posted on their transcript. Students
purchase these credits during the last term of their senior
year.
Do I need to meet with my advisor before
registration?
Yes. The advisor will approve your registration and enable
you to register online. You may also register in person.
In order to add or drop a course after you have registered,
you need to obtain your advisor's signature as well.
What are common and distribution cores?
The core curriculum is a comprehensive program of liberal
studies whose source is the mission and history of Mercyhurst
College. Its component parts are organized into a framework
that offers you the opportunity to become familiar with the
intellectual, ethical, and spiritual ideals of the college
and to adopt them as your own. The common core, consisting
of ten courses, provides the foundation for liberal learning
and for advanced work in major fields. The distribution core,
consisting of eight courses, extends the tradition of liberal
learning to other academic disciplines. Courses, that fulfill
the common and distribution cores are listed in the Mercyhurst
College catalog and in the course schedule. Courses that
meet a core requirement are designated as CC (common core)
or DC (distribution core). Some courses meet both core requirements
(CC/DC).
Where do I get a copy of my schedule?
Go to http://webadvisor.mercyhurst.edu. Select WebAdvisor for Students, then click on My Class Schedule once there.
