Looking for Something to do on Campus
Getting involved in student clubs/organizations, participating in intramurals, studying with classmates, and attending programs hosted on campus is crucial to your success and happiness at Mercyhurst. You are welcome to stop into the Student Union to learn more about the opportunities available to students. You can also check out these following websites for more information or call the Student Union Information Desk at (814) 824-2434. For campus-wide events, visit the Mercyhurst College calendar or watch for the Tuesday Afternoon email. Both resources are consistent ways to learn more about what is happening on campus.
The Mercyhurst Commuter Council also sponsors events geared toward commuter students. FAQ’s for Commuter Students
Is there a place to store books, lunch, etc. in between classes, while working out, or meeting with a club? Commuter Student Lockers are available through the Office of the Student Union & Student Activities. Lockers are located on the ground level of the Student Union and are available on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to sign out a locker, please visit the Office of the Student Union & Student Activities. Is there a Commuter Student Representative? The commuter student representative is an advocate for commuter concerns and assists in reducing the challenges that commuter students may face. There are currently two commuter student representatives (commuter reps) who are voting members of Mercyhurst Student Government, which is the governing body for all students at Mercyhurst College. Commuter reps are dedicated to acting as the voice for the issues and concerns that are unique to commuter students.
What can I use my OneCard for? The Mercyhurst College "One Card" identification card is a "smart card" used for library privileges, access to the REC Center, entry to athletic events, dining and meal services, purchases at the Bookstore, snack and specialty food items at the Sub Connection in the Student Union, Starbucks© Coffee at the Bookstore Coffee Shop and others around campus and access to all freshmen residence halls. Services such as printing and copying as well as vending machines have been added allowing your One Card to be used all over campus. The One Card is also accepted at select off-campus vendors. Is there a game room on campus? Yes, it is located in the lower level of the Student Union. Currently, there are two FREE pool tables courtesy of Mercyhurst Student Government. To play, simply go to the Student Union Information Desk and exchange your student ID card for pool balls (sticks are already located in the game room). Where is the library and where can I get more information on its services? The Hammermill Library is located next to Old Main. Hammermill Library collects books, periodicals, indexes, computerized databases, and archival and audio-visual materials that support research in the humanities and social sciences. Where is the bookstore and what are the hours of operation? The Bookstore is located next to the Audrey Hirt Building and the Cohen Health Center. A general selection of books, magazines, Mercyhurst apparel, snacks, cards, and gifts are available. For more information you can visit http://lakershop.mercyhurst.edu/ or call (814) 824-2395. Bookstore hours are: Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Sunday: 2 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Where do I go to buy a parking permit? Every student who brings a vehicle to and parks on campus property MUST register that vehicle with the Police & Safety Department and must have a Mercyhurst College parking decal issued and affixed to the registered owner. Is there a campus shuttle? Where does it go and when? A student shuttle service is provided by Mercyhurst Student Government.
