Mission
The
Center for Student Engagement & Leadership Development supports
the College's mission and core values as well as the vision
and mission of the Division of Student Life through comprehensive
co-curricular experiences for students. The Center promotes
and encourages students to engage in social, leadership, cultural
and experiential opportunities through our commitment to the
cultivation of the intellectual, personal, and ethical development
of our students. We strive to create an inclusive and engaged
campus community in which students are respected and encouraged
to pursue excellence. We advance students’ success through programs
and services that challenge them to achieve their potential
both in and out of the classroom as individuals, and as members
of the Mercyhurst community and beyond.
The Sr. Carolyn Herrmann Student Union
The
Center for Student Engagement & Leadership Development is
conveniently located on the ground level floor of the Student
Union. It serves as a central location for students to get involved
with campus activities and events and meet new people. The Student
Union is an environment that is welcoming and one in which students
can fully interact and participate in a range of academic, social,
spiritual, cultural and recreational activities. It is a wireless
building which houses a print station for student use as well
as a Game Room sponsored by Mercyhurst Student Government, complete
with board games, an hockey table and pool table. Students are
often curled up on a couch in the Great Room completing homework
or chatting with friends. The Student Union is an ideal meeting
and event space for Recognized Student Clubs/Organizations (RSCOs),
offices and departments.
