RES - TECH

 

   

What Are the Res-Techs?

  • Student IT HelpDesk workers
  • Assign to specific student residential campus areas
  • Do service calls in student apartments and room by appointment
  • Services calls are limited to about a half-hour, in-depth problems will be referred to HelpDesk
  • Provide services during off-hours in addition to the HelpDesk hours
  • Res-Tech in each area has seperate phone extension and Res-Tech e-mail address

Who Do I Call For Help? HelpDesk? Res-Tech?

  • The Res-Tech positions & the HelpDesk are meant to compliment each other in providing extended support for student computers
  • During normal weekday work hours, students should contact the HelpDesk for assistance
    • Mon - Fri 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
    • If the student problem cannot be solved over the phone and it is determined that a Res-tech would be of assistance
    • A Work-Order will be assigned to the designated Res-Tech
    • The Res-Tech will contact the student to arrange an appointment time
  • During HelpDesk off-hours, students can either call their designated Res-Tech phone number and leave a message, or they can send an e-mail to their designated Res-Tech e-mail address
    • The Res-Tech will contact them and if needed, arrange an appointment time to work on their computer

Do's and Dont's in Contacting a Res-Tech

  • No phone calls after 10 PM
  • E-mail anytime
  • Only contact the Res-Tech for your area
  • Currently Res-Techs will only work in their assigned areas
  • The Res-Tech will contact the student for a mutually agreed appointment time (None after 10 PM)
  • Students must remain while Res-Tech works with them on their computer problem
  • Res-Tech assistance is only available during the school term
  • When contacting the Res-Tech e-mail or phone, be sure to leave:

    Full name

    Building and room number

    Campus phone number, Res-techs will not be able to call long distance phone numbers (includes cell phones)
