HelpDesk Obscene or Pornographic Material Policy

IT CODE of CONDUCT

The information technology systems and networks at Mercyhurst College are intended to be used in a manner that supports the educational mission of the college and is conductive to the overall academic climate.

Acceptable Use

Users are prohibited from using systems and network to conduct various activities including.......create, access, copy, transmit or distribute obscene or pornographic materials or materials contrary to the College's mission and vision.

Computer HelpDesk Reporting Policy

• If Mercyhurst student computers serviced by the Mercyhurst Computer HelpDesk violate the Acceptable Use provision of the Code of Conduct concerning OBSCENE or PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL a two step process will be initiated.
  • First violation - Removal of materials from PC, and notification about the episode to the Office of Residence Life.
  • Second Violation - Removal of materials from PC, and submission of an Incident Report to the Office of Residence Life.

• If Mercyhurst employee computers serviced by the Mercyhurst Computer HelpDesk violate the Acceptable Use provision of the Code of Conduct concerning OBSCENE or PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL, the materials will be removed and the incident reported to the Human Resources department for further disposition.
