Lumen
Lumen,
Mercyhurst’s award-winning student literary magazine, is looking
for original student writing and is offering prizes of $100
for the best poem and the best short story submitted. This
year Lumen is sailing off into uncharted cyber-territory,
to produce students’ work not as a hardcopy literary magazine
as in past years, but as a full-color, animated, multimedia,
interactive CD – like no Lumen you’ve ever seen before!
We’re
seeking submissions from the students and faculty to demonstrate
the artistic talent at Mercyhurst. We’re looking for photographs,
stories, poems, and artwork, all of which will be supplemented
by music and dance clips supplied by Mercyhurst’s own Fine
Arts Division. This is your chance to see your work published
and maybe even win some prize money.
All
poems and short stories should be composed in Microsoft Word
and submitted on a floppy disk to P.O. Box 479 (Preston Mailroom),
no later than Jan. 16. If you have any questions, contact
Lumen Faculty Adviser Dr. Ken Schiff, Preston 214, at ext.
2461, or e-mail kschiff@mercyhurst.edu
Lumen
has many secrets and surprises in its new design, which will
be revealed when we introduce it April 2004 at the annual
Lumen Reception and Poetry and Short Story Awards Ceremony.
The staff at Lumen (though secretive) will admit that they
are very excited about Lumen’s virtual makeover.
We
need your help, though, to take this next evolutionary step.
Please submit your work now – it’s your once-in-a-lifetime
chance to be a part of this paradigm-smashing literary arts
magazine!
We
hope you enjoy the voyage to LumenLand.
